Catching Up

Posted by cotojo on January 26, 2009

It’s been a while since I wrote a proper post and now it’s time to catch up. I am still working on the finishing touches of my primary blog, Free PC Security, on its own domain and it is live and operational with a few older posts to alter the links on.

In the past 12 months a lot has happened, major problems with my neck, shoulders and compounded by having a permanently slipped disc in my lower spine, but now getting back into a routine of sorts lol.

This time last year I had won the Christmas competition that was run by Kim from laketreesA year on and my daughter has just turned 16. Below is the portrait and the original photo which was used .

In September of last year, my daughter moved into her final year at her present school and was appointed as Head Girl for the school and its new campus as well as being made Head Prefect, which made me very proud.  One of her first duties was to host and present an Awards Ceremony for the school. Standing on stage in front of  a large audience must have been quite intimidating, but she carried it off well and was praised afterwards by the school’s tutors and principal for her efforts, as they kept out of it and let the students run the evening.  There was also a large screen at the back of the stage to project images onto for the benefit of those further back in the audience and the pictures below are of the screen and my daughter on the stage.

It was a wonderful evening and naturally I was very proud of my daughter and her achievements.

Earlier this month she celebrated her 16th Birthday…..doesn’t time fly!  I always treat her to a meal and let her decide where to go.  She had decided that we were going to go to Nando’s, a Portuguese Restaurant in Plymouth, so that’s where we went and enjoyed a sumptuous flame grilled chicken dinner. Below are some photo’s of the restaurant:

My daughter sat in Nando’s and then at home afterwards, this year with no braces on her teeth which she is pleased about, and the change of hair style!

In a few months time she will be sitting her GCSE exams and the results will be published in August, so she has a lot of work to do over the coming months but I am sure that she will do well.  She will then move on to the 6th form at another school as sadly her current school does not have one, but she has been provisionally accepted for a Plymouth High School for Girls providing her results meet the minimum requirements.

So time will tell and I am sure that she will do well in whatever she chooses to do and she knows that I back her decisions as we sit and talk about various options.

Have a wonderful week everyone and thank you for all of your comments whilst I was away and I will catch up with you all as soon as I can.

jesseme – Thank you so much 🙂
I’m sure that the change of environment will do her good and she has now been provisionally accepted for two schools as long as the target grades are met, which I don’t think will be a problem.
Take care and have a wonderful day,

How talented she is Colin, you are rightly proud of her. I am not sure it is a bad thing moving to a new school for the final years. For many kids it gives them a sense of being more independent and that they are being treated as more grown up.

Sue – Thank you so much 🙂
Yes I am very proud of her achievements and she now has the option of another school for her sixth form studies. I do think that the change will be a good thing and also gain valuable experience as she moves toward university.
Take care and have a wonderful week 🙂
