January is National Mentoring Month in the USA

Posted by cotojo on January 24, 2008

I received this beautiful Award from my dear friends Sue of Blogging Sueblimely and from Mary Ann of MaryannavilleThank you Sue and Mary Ann, it is very humbling to receive this Award.

Sue awarded both this blog and my Free PC Security blog, which was most generous of her 🙂

I had no idea that there was any such thing but now I know otherwise. I learned about this from my dear friend Sue of “Blogging Sue Blimely.” Below is what Sue mentioned in her blog post.

“This is an initiative spearheaded by the Harvard Mentoring Project of the Harvard School of Public Health, with the aim of recruiting volunteer mentors to help young people achieve their full potential. The US Harvard School of Public Health is dedicated to thanking or honoring individuals who have guided us and had a lasting impact on our lives.”

Along with it, Sue handed out an award that she had personally created for the National campaign. I was honored to be included on her list. I have placed the text award version in the sidebar on the left.

Sue created two for us to choose from and below is the original Award with a Text Version in the sidebar which links to this post.

Sue is quite a distance away from me in the UK as she is in Australia so she posted earlier, just to be sure that we got our awards on time. The official United States date to “Thank your Mentor Day” is 24th January.

Thank you, SueBlimely! Now, please pick up YOUR Blogging Mentor award from Life! Each of you have earned this really neat award by being among the best mentor’s we have access to on the World Wide Web.

I’d like to present this to Lisa of Life is Just Around the Corner, for without her valuable input on my Free PC Security blog when I first stared blogging, this blog would never have come into existence.

To Jackie of The Painted Veil for her wonderful friendship from my first days of blogging and continuous support for my blogs.

To Jos of NoDirecton (notNo Direction) for his continued support in all that I have done, his humor and honesty.

Also, I’d like to include Hanna of Amori, poesie, arte, who has done so much to bring along more European bloggers, especially from Italy, to join our ranks.

You are all incredibly fantastic people as well as every bit important to our blogging achievements. You generously share your time and energy with the many bloggers who are lucky enough to cross paths with your smiling and kind hearts.

My Cartoon Character meme & Compliments Day Award

Posted by cotojo on January 24, 2008

Marzie from Mariuca tagged me with this quiz to find out which cartoon character I resemble most.

How cute is that? It’s easy too, just answer 10 simple questions to reveal your cartoon character.

I scored 35 points, which makes me…
*(29-35 points) You are Sponge Bob Square Pants: You are the classic person that everyone loves. You are the best friend that anyone could ever have and never wants to lose. You never cause harm to anyone and they would never not understand your feelings. Life is a journey, it’s funny and calm for the most part. Stay away from traitors and jealous people, and you will be stress free.
Answer all the questions (only 10) with what describes you best, add up all your Points (which are next to the answer that you choose) at the end and look for your results. Do not cheat by looking at the end of the e-mail before you are done. Then ask your Friends to answer it. (Make sure to Highlight your answers)
1. Which one of the following describes the perfect date?
a) Candlelight dinner (4 pts.)
b) Fun/Theme Park (2 pts.)
c) Painting in the park (5 pts)
d) Rock concert (1 pt.)

*Now add up your points and find out the answer you have been waiting for!Put your character in the subject line and forward to your friends and back to the person that sent this to you. Very interesting to see ‘who’ your friends are!
*(10-16 points) You are Garfield: You are very comfortable, easy going, and you definitely know how to have fun but sometimes you take it to an extreme. You always know what you are doing and you are always in control of your life. Others may not see things as you do, but that doesn’t mean that you always have to do what is right. Try to remember, your happy spirit may hurt you or others.
*(17-23 points) You are Snoopy: You are fun, you are very cool and popular. You always know what’s in and you are never are out of style You are good at knowing how to satisfy everyone else. *(24-28 points) You are Elmo: You have lots of friends and you are also popular, always willing to give advice and help out a person in need. You are very optimistic and you always see the bright side of things. Some good advice: try not to be too much of a dreamer. Dreaming too big could cause many conflicts in your life.
*(36-43 points) You are Charlie Brown: You are tender, you fall in love quickly but you are also very serious about all relationships. You are a family person. You call your Mom every Sunday. You have many friends and may occasionally forget a few Birthdays. Don’t let your passion confuse you with reality.
*(44-50 points) You are Dexter: You are smart and definitely a thinker… Every situation is fronted with a plan. You have a brilliant mind. You demonstrate very strong family principles. You maintain a stable routine but never ignore a bad situation when it comes.
*Try to do less over thinking every once in a while to spice things up a bit with spontaneity. Now don’t spoil it! Have some Fun!!

A real friend must be cherished beyond all worldly measures and shine brighter than gold and last longer than diamonds.

Verify Your Blog on MyBlogLog

Posted by cotojo on January 22, 2008

MyBlogLog (MBL) have now come up with a solution to stop others interfering with, infecting and taking over others blogs.

It’s called ‘Verify My Site’ and by creating a post with MyBlogLog Verification as the title, MyBlogLog Verificaton in the tags, and entering a piece of code then publish the post then click the link on MBL to verify that it is yours and no one else can access it….all rights remain with the individual only and any co-authors that they may add.

All you have to do is log into MBL, click on your blog name and to the right where it says ‘Authors’ there is now a link called ‘Verify My Site’. Click on this and there is a small piece of code to enter into a new blog post….it must be posted in the html / source or code depending upon which platform you are using.

Open another window and open your blog, create a new post with MyBlogLog Verification as the title, and also as tags/labels and enter the code.

Publish your post, return to the MBL page and then click on ‘Authenticate’  Once it has found your post it will show you that is has been authenticated and you can safely delete the post and your blog on MBL will have a green checkmark beside it.

MyBlogLog Verified Checkmark

This was introduced on Saturday due to the problems that had been created and hopefully it will lead to a safer experience for all of us.
