Missing Maddie – Belgium To Test DNA

A DNA test is being carried out on a bottle used by the girl a witness said was missing Madeleine McCann. It follows the “highly credible” description of a girl with a couple on a cafe terrace in Belgium.
The witness told police she was 100 per cent sure the little blonde girl with a Dutchman and an English-speaking woman was four-year-old Maddie.
The child was drinking a bottle of Fristi milkshake through a straw when she was spotted in the De Pauze Café in Tongeren last Saturday.
Belgian authorities confirmed last night that the DNA test results should be available by Wednesday.
Experts will sift through Belgian and Dutch databases before contacting the British police and asking for a sample to match the one they hold.
State prosecutor Katja Van Doren said: “We first have to see if there is enough material to take a DNA test.
“It could be that too many people handled the bottle for us to isolate a sample. We just don’t know yet.”
A waitress at the cafe studied pictures of Maddie and said the resemblance was “stunning”.
It is the second reported sighting of her in Belgium. On June 1, a couple told cops they saw her in Liege.
